Clean Go Green-December 2-3, 2021 | Facilities and operations

2021-11-24 02:18:33 By : Mr. Kevin Gong

After being interrupted by Covid-19 for more than a year, “Clean Go Green” will return to the Morningside campus and Manhattanville campus on Thursday, December 2 and Friday, December 3. Due to the following reasons, some pick-up locations and donation locations are different from previous years. There are other tents on campus, so please check the locations carefully.

Cleaning your office or living space can create more space and also help protect the environment. Columbia University facilities and operations, Columbia Community Services, and our partners across the campus want to help. As part of our award-winning "Clean Go Green" program, we will provide free large trash bins at Morningside and Manhattanville campuses for recycling, reuse or proper disposal of large unwanted items. Most importantly, the facilities and operations department will separate and recycle your belongings. In this way, when you clean, you will "turn green".

* Thursday, December 2, 2021 and Friday, December 3, 2021, rain or shine!

* The drop-off time is only between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm. During this period, facilities and operations personnel will assist in unloading and recycling at any time.

* Add this year's Clean and Go Green events to your calendar

*Reuse/donation delivery location: the white tent under the front steps of the Butler Library.

Please wear a mask in front of the donation tent and bring donated items as soon as possible to increase their chances of finding a new home!

Note: No cars are allowed on campus. Cars can pass through 115th Street (carrying items through Broadway and Gate 115 to Lerner Hall) or the nearest electronics recycling station on 129th Street in front of the square.

Items you can bring to the delivery location of Clean Go Green include (please fix clothes, textiles and linens in plastic bags, and clean/dust other donated items):

Reuse/donate (only for tents near Butler Library):

New or used clothes, coats, scarves, gloves, shoes and non-perishable items will be donated to Colombian community service organizations that provide emergency services.

Items you cannot bring to the drop-off location of Clean Go Green:

Contact the Environmental Health and Safety Department to remove or clear to remove items from this list.

Bring shredded items to College Walk near Kent Hall and Paper Shredding Locations at Manhattanville Square from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm every day. Remind you, before processing university records, please refer to the information that can be found in the University Policy Library Record retention and disposal policy. If you have any questions about these policies, please contact [email protected] and review this guide to learn how to prepare for the Shredding Event.

Charged porters will go directly to your office to collect and recycle the items you don't need (only applicable to the office of Morningside Campus). Call the Columbia University Facilities Service Center at 212-854-2222 before closing on Monday, November 29, and mention “clean and green” to request service.

Don't throw away your old books-donate them instead! Bring your used books to the Low Plaza tent, where your fellow Colombians can use them.

Help preserve the institutional memory of the university. Please contact the University Archives via [email protected] so that the staff can evaluate the materials you have that may be stored for a long time.
